Q: Is it safe to shop at your site?
A: Kansas City Costume Company has been a Kansas City institution since the 1920's! We are open year round at our brick and mortar location, just a few blocks away from Arrowhead and Kaufman stadiums. We are not an "internet only" business like many online costume suppliers, though we are enjoying our third year having a web presence. Your credit card information is protected with a secure SSL Certificate that encrypts all of your transactions through our site with industry-standard secure sockets layer (SSL) technology. Rest assured that both your credit card information and personal information are protected.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Paypal as well. We also accept purchase orders from city, state, or federally funded institutions. See below for more information.
Q: How are items shipped to me?
A: Your purchase will be shipped UPS, USPS, or FedEx. Charges will be figured automatically at checkout. Please note that UPS does not deliver to post office boxes. If you are local to Kansas City, there is an option at checkout to pay in the store. If you would like to reserve items and pick them up from our location instead of having them shipped to you, simply select this option at checkout and your items will be held for you at the store and your account will not be charged at that time. Your items will be held at our store's location for 5 business days after you've placed your order. If your items have not been retrieved within the given time, your order will be cancelled and the items will be returned to stock. In this case, please bring a form of payment with you, and your order confirmation in order to retrieve your items and pay for it when you come in.
Q: I need my items quickly, but I don't see and overnight shipping option?
A: We beg your patience at this time; we are working on being able to offer this option.
Q: Do I qualify for a discount?
A: Schools, Dance Studios, Red Cross, Theaters, and Choral and Symphony groups, are eligible for a 10% discount on purchases (with exceptions). To qualify, the billing address of the credit card or purchase order must match the organization’s shipping address. During checkout, enter “costume” when asked for a coupon code. We reserve the right to withhold a discount for any reason. If this occurs, you will be notified before your order is shipped.
Q: Can I return items?
A: Unopened and unused merchandise is returnable providing a return authorization number is requested within 24 hours from package delivery. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain the authorization number before you return the item(s). A restocking fee will apply unless the item you received was damaged in shipping. For obvious reasons, make-up, wigs, and hats are non-returnable. Returns for items paid via purchase order will receive store credit valid for up to one year, less any applicable restocking fee. Please note that all items purchased at our brick and mortar Kansas City retail location are non-returnable.
Q: I am ordering for a school. How do I use a purchase order on-line?
A: As an added service to schools (grade k-12), colleges, and select city/state/federal entities, we will accept purchase orders at the time of your online purchase. Simply choose to pay in store at checkout. Please fax your purchase order (and tax exempt letter if applicable) to 816-221-6699 or email a scanned copy to email@example.com and be sure to reference the order number on the cover sheet, or subject line. Once the purchase order (and tax exempt letter if applicable) is received, your items will be gathered and sent to you. Please note that on-line orders for which a purchase order (and tax exempt letter if applicable) is not received within five (5) days will be cancelled, and items returned to stock. For accuracy in billing purposes, please send a copy of the purchase order following each online purchase, regardless if you have sent the same purchase order to us on a previous order. Please note that invoices left unpaid for longer than 30 days may cause you to be ineligible for our purchase order program in the future. We reserve the right to refuse purchase orders for any reason.
